girls' day out (sort of).

so after the bathroom incident that lead to a trip to the emergency room, sophie and i decided to lay low, stay home and just chillax. and do girly things!! so the past two days we painted our nails...
did a fashion shoot...
and we did crazy things!!! like watch tv all day long and eat junk food! yep, that's crazy for us! i've limited sophie to 1 movie a day and some morning kids show and definitely no more junk food for her because we're trying to teach her to finish her meals.
so today we went back to the er for the follow up on her booboo. and yey everything is good. what am i talking about as soon as we got back from er on the day of the accident, she was back to normal! no pain, no crying - nothing. only i am more paranoid now! ahaha.
this is us in the waiting room reading a spanish magazine no less...
this is us with papa waiting in car for daddy...
and finally a hydrant shot of course!

snackin' on right now.

yup that's right. crackers + yogurt + fruits! it's surprisingly good. and healthy too. sophie just turned 3 in jan and let me tell you, they eat so much. like non-stop. i always have to have food and snack around. (there goes my diet too, growing toddler = growing mama) so anyway, i have all these snacks i buy in bulk and sophie gets tired of them. so my solution mix them all together. like what we're snacking on right now. that's right "we". hope we don't end up eating cheerios + cheese + jello.

sweater dress.

1. find an old sweater. in this case my shrunken cashmere sweater.
2. i used one of sophie's dress as a sizing guide.
3,4. mark & cut. wasn't sure about the sleeves, if i could even make it. so i just made a straight cut. then decided to use the leftover sleeves of the sweater to make a smaller ones. sewing was kinda tricky but all in all easy.
5. i did it! i made sure that all the edges had the original seams. i thought it was very plain and boring for a girl's dress so...
6. we sewed some buttons and a flower i made from a ribbon to embellish the dress. (my lovely assistant picked the buttons) i was trying to do a faux necklace look.
tada!  so cute!

met with j after his work. we were gonna do the dinner and a movie but ended up so comfy at the restaurant. i love people watching. we had ice cream afterwards.

kids, tsk tsk.

one thing that's keeping us busy is solving mysteries of our own. disappearance of everyday things. our only clue: sophie. yeah she's been hiding our things. one time we spent 2 days looking for our tv remote. remote control btw is a very important thing. we found it buried in our sock drawer.
the other day, the ps3 was making wierd sounds non stop. having 3 controller doesn't help either. anyway we found it behind the radiator. really? behind the radiator? we also found more things: my moisturizer, old animal crackers, of course toys and my book, for one more day. oh yeah that was my reason for not finishing that book.
today, i spent the entire afternoon looking for my white sandals and j's keys. keys seem to be missing all the time as it is. ang guess where i found it? inside the subwoofer of our livingroom surround. the only reason i found it was the key finder that was given to us by rhodorathexplorer. which was missing also. so i had to find that first.
the funny thing is that everytime we ask sophie where she put them, she always tells us the truth. we just don't understand what she's trying to say. and after solving the "mysteries" we're like "ooooh that's what she meant". *sigh* the joys of parenthood.

pic of the week.

for some reason i love this pic. yey for this year's vbs theme: egypt.

on being a new mom.

that's sophie 2 years ago. sophie's almost 3. wow. i still feel like a "new mom". i don't think there's such a thing as a "new mom". being a mom doesn't get old. like i'm always going to be a new mom. because each of sophie's age is new to me. if i have another baby (hopefully a boy) he's going to be different from sophie. different personality and character. obviously i have to take care of him in a "new" way and obviously my life is going to be in a different situation like at that time i will have 2 kids to take care of as to sophie being an only child. like i've never had 2 kids before so it's all "new" to me.

baby quilt.

sophie is growing so fast. went through all her clothes and they're all pretty much small on her. i can't give 'em away because most of them have stains and i don't want to throw them out coz they're so cute (not because i am a hoarder(i am not being defensive)). my sister gave me a great idea of turning them into a quilt. it's a big project but i have every reason to do it. 1. keepsake + memories 2. finally put my mom's sewing machine into use (since last year it has been back and forth from her house to ours and that thing is damn heavy) 3. finally learn to use a sewing machine 4. free up some space in our laundry room 5. for fun! now i just have to go through them again!

sophie singing happy birthday.

yes, that's her singing face that she unfortunately got from me.

happy birthday, sophie!

i think i've been watching too much challenge on the food network. man i love that show! let me just say that i have found new respect for the guys on the show. anyway, i was so "inspired" that i decided to make a cake for sophie's birthday. yes, it's my first time to use fondant but i think i did pretty good. sophie loves it! can't wait for tomorrow! yey! and oh we just found out that she can sing happy birthday.
